Create groups and roles

Make collaboration visible

The group role board shows group membership, responsibilities, and working status, giving cooperative tasks a shared reference point for learners and staff.

Match roles to the task

Use only roles that serve the activity, such as facilitator, recorder, resource manager, or reporter, rather than assigning titles without a real function.

Distribute responsibility

Check that essential work is not concentrated with one learner and plan rotations so pupils can practise different contributions over time.

State the current status

Use the board to show whether groups are planning, working, checking, or ready to report, reducing repeated whole-class interruptions.

Review group composition

Adjust membership and roles in response to the learning task and observed participation, not solely according to a permanent grouping pattern.
