Compare fraction size

This tool pairs fraction calculations with visual models so learners can see why one fraction is greater, smaller, or equal to another.

Decide whether common denominators, benchmark fractions, or a diagram best reveals the relationship in the selected pair.

Check that both fractions refer to equal-sized wholes before asking for a comparison; otherwise a correct-looking model can mislead.

Use the greater-than, less-than, or equal sign as the conclusion, then require a calculation or picture that justifies it.

Before sharing the comparison, verify that partitions are equal and that any shaded parts match the written numerators and denominators.
