Create a shapes and measurement worksheet

Measure shapes with meaning

The shapes and measurement worksheet creates perimeter and area tasks with labelled figures, keeping units and geometric features visible to learners.

Distinguish the quantities

State whether a question asks for distance around a boundary or surface covered inside it, because perimeter and area require different units and operations.

Read the labels carefully

Check that each needed side length is present and that any unused measurement is intentional rather than an accidental distraction.

Match tools to tasks

Where measurement from a drawing is expected, confirm the print scale and ruler requirements; otherwise treat the supplied labels as exact values.

Check units in answers

Review solutions for linear units on perimeter and square units on area, including correct conversions when more than one unit is used.
